Maintenance for Lasting Protection

Your investment in Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Ceramic Coatings ensures years of safeguarding for your vehicle, with simple maintenance that surpasses caring for traditional paint surfaces. Here’s how to keep your PPF and Ceramic Coatings in pristine condition:

Clear Coat Protection

Similar to your vehicle's paint, the surface of PPF features a clear coat. Regular upkeep for PPF and Ceramic Coatings is straightforward and crucial for maintaining their integrity. Promptly remove insects, bird droppings, or road residue to prevent staining or etching into the film or the coating.

Curing Process

Following installation, the PPF requires up to 30 days to fully cure, depending on environmental factors. During this period, minimise contact with the film to allow for optimal bonding with the painted surfaces. Any initial bubbling should dissipate as the curing progresses.

Sealant Application

Enhance the longevity of your PPF by opting for our Paint Protection Film sealant post-installation. This protective barrier mitigates the risk of pollution and strengthens the film's resilience against external elements.

Waxing Recommendations

Regular waxing is encouraged to maintain the gloss and protection of your vehicle. However, avoid polishes containing dyes, resin, or solvents, as they can distort the film over time. To prevent wax build-up along the film edge, overlap with ¼ inch painter's masking tape during application.

Proper Washing Techniques

After the curing period for PPF as well as Ceramic Coatings, washing your vehicle becomes safe using a pH-neutral shampoo and soft lambswool wash mitt. Employ the 2-bucket wash method and maintain a distance of at least 1 meter when using a high-pressure wash to prevent lifting of the PPF edge. Remember to always use the ‘spray’ function as the ‘jet’ function can pierce through the PPF.

Healing Process

Surface scratches or swirl marks on the film will naturally heal over time. To expedite the process, gently pour warm water (not boiling) over the affected area, aiding the film in reverting to its original state.

Washing Order

We recommend washing in “levels” from the top down to avoid bringing dirt from the dirtier lower half of the vehicle up to the less dirty higher areas ie: Roof first, then Bonnet and Glass, then top half of Front Guards/Doors/Rear Quarter Panels/Tailgate, then lower half of Front Guards/Doors/Rear Quarter Panels/Tailgate, then Front & Rear Bumpers and Rocker Panels, with Wheels and Wheel Arches last. Every time the wash mitt comes off the glass, agitate it in the bucket with the grate and clean water. This will trap most of the dirt and grime under the grate and reduce taking this debris back onto the vehicle. The mitt then goes into the bucket with the warm soapy water before taking it back to the next section to be washed. This will help reduce swirls and scratches appearing on the PPF, Coating or Paint.
